Sociology of Knowledge and Culture
I am excited about the sociology of knowledge in social sciences.
I concentrate on three main areas:
1) Bibliometric analysis. I analyze both conventional metrics and altmetrics.
2) The political economy of knowledge production and diffusion. In particular, I focus how money works in academic knowledge production and distribution, such as funding, academic salary, journal subscriptions and publishing businesses.
3) The cultures in knowledge innovation, production and diffusion. I mainly focus on the emerging world culture of academia. I examine how this ranking-oriented, hierarchical culture produces and reproduces social and economic inequality and immobility
